Christmas 2009

Well, I guess better late than never.  I finally got the pictures downloaded off of the camera.  Now I can file through all of them and pick some out to show "all" my followers (thanks for reading my blog, Kelly and Amy).

This was the best Christmas that I have had post children.  Emma and Rebecca really understood what this holiday was about and just loved everything about it.  We made a gingerbread house, followed an Advent Calendar, made Christmas cookies, sang LOTS of Christmas music (it certainly has been quiet without the radio playing the past two weeks.).

I was bound and determined that I was going to enjoy the time leading up to Christmas and watch it through Emma and Rebecca's eyes, and by the grace of God I did.

I shopped and wrapped early (done by Thanksgiving), sent out cards by the second week in December, and started making cookies back in November.  I did not want to have the girls remember Christmas by Mommy spazzing out and yelling at them to stay out of the way because there were too many things to do.

This was a big year for Emma because she was finally allowed to be in the church pageant.  She was an angel and just LOVED wearing the angel wings and halo.  She was super nervous and I don't think was able to enjoy it as much as she might have, but she was very cute to watch.  My parents came down to go to the family service and then headed home for their "midnight" service.  Brian's Dad also came with us to church as well.

The girls loved opening their gifts.  We took our time and spent from 8 until 4:30 opening and playing with their gifts.  It was so nice to have no time constraints.  My parents arrived mid-afternoon on Christmas Day and stayed through dinnertime.  Brian's Dad was here from Christmas Eve through the weekend, so we were very blessed to be surrounded by family.

Below are some of the highlights of Christmas for us.

Best buddies enjoying each other's company.

Aunt Barbara and Uncle Bob sent the girls 11,000 perler beads.  We have since made so many pieces of art that I have made a mobile that is hanging in each of the girl's rooms.

If Daisy isn't allowed to come out then we are just going to sit on top of the cage until she is allowed out.

My parents have started Add-A-Pearl necklaces for each of the girls and I was crying as I read the lovely note that my Mom wrote to each of the girls.  My Nana did the same for me.  By far the most sentimental gift for my girls.

Nana knit Rebecca a blanket for her Kookie dog.

Aunt Sarah reading the girls "Twas the Night Before Christmas" before the girls went to bed.

Me, Cathie and Sarah on Christmas Eve.  Two wonderful friends who keep me sane.
