Last night he had his annual PAL Youth Wrestling Team Banquet. As always, it was a nice evening full of good food, great awards, and last night an added piece. A few months ago, I had the idea to honor Brian with all his hard work by putting together a PowerPoint presentation full of pictures of him with the kids he coaches along with quotes of why the kids like him. The parents were totally on board for this project and sent me quotes and pictures within a 2 week period. I also wrote a speech for him. I was totally nervous about the speech, but when the Team President came up afterwards and told me I should be a speech-writer, I felt pretty good. The best part was that Brian was totally surprised.
I was totally surprised when the Team President presented me with the following. There are more than 30 lily blooms in this bouquet. It is absolutely exquisite! And the aroma is so refreshing!
I am very proud of Brian's accomplishments being a wrestling coach in town. As difficult as it is to keep the household running almost single-handedly during the season, I see all that he teaches the boys on the team and I realize that he is making a difference in these kids' lives. This is the plaque he was presented for all his hard work.
Here is the presentation I put together for him. (The sound isn't working in this version, but Brian is working on it. I will post the one with music as soon as he fixes it.)

I like your slide show. Great job! As much as I didn't think I wanted wrestling to be Nathan's sport of choice, I know he would love having Brian for a coach! Coaches are important people in the lives of these kids and you can just tell by the photos and the quotes that they all love and respect him. Great job Brian!
