A Brave Field Trip

When I woke up Monday morning, I took a look at the calendar and noticed that there was NOTHING, ZIP, NATTA, ZILCH, on the schedule for the entire week.  Well, in this household, that just won't do.  We are all too much of "on the go" people to sit around all week doing nothing.

So, I decided I was going to be brave and attempt a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo on my own with the girls.  What a treat it turned out to be.  I love zoos.  I always wanted to be a veterinarian when I was a kid, but then the reality of having to be good at science kicked in.  I became a teacher instead.  But my passion for animals has never disappeared and I love going to zoos and aquariums to look at the animals.

There is a phenominal exhibit of LEGOs there to celebrate the zoo's 150 anniversary.  There are 10 exhibits and collector's cards to go along with each exhibit.  Emma was determined to get every last card even if it meant walking clear to the other end of the zoo for a second time because we missed one.  I was proud of her for her determination.  Becca, not so much.

Here are just a few of the pictures we took that day.  Just the beginning to what I hope will be many this summer with the girls.  I am really enjoying them at these ages.
