Milkshakes

So last night was an Emma/Mommy night out.  Emma's friend invited her to go to her church for a pancake/movie night.  We had a wonderful time.  It is nice to not have to divide my time or attention with both girls.

Well, since it was Emma/Mommy night, that meant it was Rebecca/Daddy night.  Brian decided to take Rebecca out for dinner.  Apparently they had a really great time.  Rebecca ate well and behaved really well.  Brian decided to stop at Petrucci's on the way home and got a small milkshake to share with Rebecca.  Of course Rebecca was all about this.  Brian took a sip on the way to the car and had a hard time getting any shake out, so he figured it would do no harm to have Rebecca hold the cup for the drive home.  (This is the point where he now says, "It seemed like a good idea at the time; hence the name of our blog.)  When they got home Brian went to get her out of the car seat and he said easily 1/3 of the milkshake had been consumed.  OOPS.

Emma and I got home from the movie around 8:30pm.  Rebecca had just been put to bed, so I went up to give her hugs and kisses.  I walked in the room and she BOUNCED up to say hi.  I asked her if she had fun with Daddy.  She said yes.  This was our conversation.

Mom:  Did Daddy take you to a restaurant?
Rebecca: Yes
Mom: What did you have for dinner?
Rebecca (with a HUGE smile on her face): Milkshake
Mom: That is what you had for dessert.  What did you have for dinner?
Rebecca:  I don't know.

When I told Brian what she said he promptly said that he was busted by his own kid.  We both had a great laugh about that one.  Mind you, this is 8:45pm now.  We were still listening to Rebecca at 9:40pm.  As Brian is sitting on the couch with me he looks at me and says, "OK, maybe I didn't think the whole thing through first before I gave her the milkshake."  I just smiled and nodded my head, knowing that it was him getting up with the kids in the morning:)
