Thanksgiving

So many things to be thankful for.  Two of which are giving me hugs and one who is behind the camera.

Taking an idea from our neighbor, Amy, I decided to construct a "Thanksgiving Tree" on our dining room wall.  At dinnertime, we each chose a leaf, thought of something we were thankful for, wrote it on the leaf and hung it on the tree.  I was very pleasantly surprised to see how everyone took to this idea.  I was shocked at the end when Emma could look at almost any leaf and remember what each one said as well as who said it.  Even Rebecca participated with things like "Car-Car", our neighbor Carter, Elmo, Cookies, etc.  Emma said things like school, friends, a friend feeling better after being sick, etc.  Brian said things like spending time with family, good health, the kids, etc.  I said things like health insurance, a warm house, the kids, family time.  It was happily received and something that I look forward to doing each year.  Although we do say thank you prayers at night, it was nice to have a visual to go along with all the things we have to be thankful for so we can all be reminded on a daily basis how very blessed we are.

I'm soo thankful that we have the wonderful neighbors we do! It was very sweet of you to call the night before to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. I love the tree that you and Amy did. We made a Thankful Turkey that we each chose things we were thankful for and put it on a Turkey feather and we hung the Turkey in the dining room. We might have to do the tree next year...it holds more blessings!

What an awsome idea! We just did the thankful basket for a few days but I love the tree idea. That's a great way to teach little ones to be thankful for what they have and realize that others may not have as much. Especially around the holidays. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

This was our first year with the "tree" as well, and I'm glad you could do it too. So good for the kids (and for us grown-ups too!) to remember our blessings. We're thankful for you!
