The Birthday Girl

This past Monday was our neighbor, Brianna's 5th birthday.  The neighborhood wanted to have a party for her to help celebrate this milestone.  It is also the first birthday for her without her mother, Hilary, who passed away on June 28th.  Kelly picked her up at day care early and Brianna didn't know anything about the party.  She was a very happy little girl throughout the party.  It is just another reminder of how resilient children are and how blessed she is to have the father she does.  Vince is taking such good care of her and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of Hilary looking down and showering her family with love.  As I reflected on the day I couldn't help but think of Hilary and hope that we did what she would have wanted to make Brianna's birthday special.  I continue to have images of looking up in the sky and seeing Hilary smiling down on the neighborhood.  I have had a few dreams like that and instead of being creeped out by it I am reassured of God's love and his welcoming of Hilary into heaven.  May she rest in peace and know that her family is ok.
